Phillip Mezzatesta’s involvement with music is a lifelong love story. The Melbourne based DJ of Italian descent is no stranger to club land; his career has spanned three decades, and his love for music and industry experience stems from his early childhood. Phillip’s first encounter with vinyl was at the ripe age of three, later mastering the craft of mixing in his early teens. Years later, he is known as a DJ, producer, all round entertainer and the headline act for 2009’s Real Bad XXI celebration – a few days short of his 35th birthday.

Trying to pigeonhole Phillip's sound is no easy feat given that his sets are eclectic and uplifting; canvassing a wide range of house, driving tribal rhythms, melodic trance with a dash of disco and gospel grooves for good measure. His energy is derived from the crowd and their response, while his interest in club culture, political satire and sexual innuendo filter though the speaker cones. Phillip’s diversity and love for music shines through his sets, blending a broad spectrum of quality dance music with class, finesse and strict attention to detail. His performances are original, unpredictable and always a fun experience, with that extra special unique ‘Philvester’ magic.

The frenetic Phillip demonstrates his amazing talent behind the decks, showcasing his flamboyance and charisma through song and dance. His sound is inspired by the likes of Sylvester, Patrick Cowley, Giorgio Moroder, The Jacksons, Full Intention, Danny Tenaglia, Joey Negro and Prince to name a few.

Phillip’s career highlights include Sydney’s Sleaze Ball, Daylesford’s Chillout Festival for nine consecutive years and a string of residencies at Melbourne club institutions including the Market Hotel, Sircuit and the Laird. His sets have been described by many as ‘legendary’, ‘eclectic’ and ‘sheer genius.’ Various characters emerge from Phillip’s personality through his club appearances, adding a unique and entertaining dynamic to the events, making his presence fun, valuable and very memorable.
